Although this is not the place to develop the argument further, I believe that, in his understanding of ‘laws’, Marx in fact conflated at least three very different meanings: (i) Laws in the sense of ‘natural laws’ of classical political theory, concerning particularly the labour theory of value (which was also the normative basis of his immanent critique of capitalism).
